Rediscovery of the gold bill of Nicephorus (Anas georgica niceforoi)
Abstract
The rediscovery of the subspecies of the Golden-Footed Duck of Nicephorus (Aatidae: Anas georgica niceforoi) is presented. The taxon was considered extinct for more than 50 years. In the lapse of one year, 42 specimens were detected in the area described as typical locality, three specimens whose physical and morphometric characteristics are the subject of this publication were collected. The taxon goes from the category of Extinction to Threatened and Critically Endangered. Keywords: Anas georgica niceforoi, Niceforo´s Pintail, Extinct subspecies
