Abstract

The basis of the diagnosis of breast cancer is the histological confirmation of it. In the diagnostic methods performed on biopsy specimens and / or surgical specimens of patients, analysis of hormone receptors, provides information to the appropriate prescription of the endocrine treatments used today, in addition to having utility as a prognostic factor in determining the risk of recurrence post treatment and evaluate the response. To obtain tumor tissue, also allows to determine prognostic and predictive factors such as histopathological classification of the tumor, its size, number of positive lymph nodes and lymph-vascular commitment, all of them very important in a integrated treatment, in order to improve the quality and life expectancy of patients.
