Prevention and hypertension: Role of drugs

Abstract

If the antihypertensive treatment that the medical group around the world has been using for more than 60 years has not managed to reduce cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, I believe that Medicine has done nothing to modify the natural history of the disease. It is likely that in the future it will be demonstrated from Epidemiology (but not from clinical practice) that the treatment of diabetes mellitus and hyperlipidemia has also failed to reduce cardiovascular risks.
