Editorial: Research, region and dependence

Abstract

The production of scientific knowledge is conditioned by the environment and is immersed in the social field and its conflicts. The idea that this knowledge is aseptic and independent of the society that supports it seems to be distorted. However, this last idea persists in certain circles. Therefore, policies that channel scientific knowledge generate often antagonistic positions on the task and on how to make scientific community. It would be expected that in Colombia these policies would be relevant to the context and that the lead agency, Colciencias, acted in accordance with this principle.
