Abstract

The Quetzal de Cresta distributes in the premontane Andes mainly between 1400 and 2800msnm in the subtropical zone from the northwest of Venezuela in Mérida, Táchira, Trujillo and the west of Zulia to the yungas of Cochabamba to the northwest of Bolivía, going through the Serrania de Perijá and the three Colombian mountain ranges, Ecuador and further south along the eastern slopes of the Andes (Meyer and Brown, 1986, Fjeldsa and Krabbe, 1990).
