Suplementación estratégica con arbustivas forrajeras en el destete precoz de terneros BON x Cebú en Antioquia, Colombia
Resumen
La crianza, es una etapa en la se requiere una óptima recuperación reproductiva de las vacas, y crecimiento de los terneros. El objetivo del estudio fue evaluar el uso de la suplementación estratégica con ensilaje de arbustivas forrajeras, en el destete precoz de ganado BON × Cebú. Se realizó un ensayo con 14 terneros, de 5,2 ± 1,05 meses de edad y 127,57 ± 30,47 kg de peso, distribuidos aleatoriamente en un tratamiento control (To), en lactancia permanente, y un tratamiento experimental (Tex) en destete precoz. En Tex, los animales fueron asignados a un sistema de pastoreo y suplementación con ensilaje mixto elaborado con Tithonia diversifolia, Gliricidia sepium, Cratylia argentea, y Crescentia cujete a razón de 655 g/animal/día. El desarrollo corporal y las ganancias de peso en los tratamientos, fueron evaluados durante 90 días. Se realizaron mediciones de consumo, peso de terneros y madres, así como del estado reproductivo de estas. Los datos fueron analizados en el software estadístico R Project. No hubo efecto del tratamiento, ni de la interacción tratamiento × mes en el desarrollo corporal y ganancias de peso de los terneros, mientras que, las madres de Tex presentaron diferencias significativas en el peso y estado reproductivo.
