Efecto de la imbibición en germinación y establecimiento temprano de Beta vulgaris y Trifolium pratense

Resumen

La eficiencia de los sistemas forrajeros en el trópico alto depende en gran medida de la calidad fisiológica de la semilla y del éxito del establecimiento inicial. El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar el efecto de diferentes tiempos de imbibición (0, 8, 16 y 24 horas) sobre la germinación, el vigor y el desempeño agronómico de Beta vulgaris y Trifolium pratense en Nariño, Colombia. La investigación se desarrolló en dos fases: una fase de laboratorio para evaluar germinación y vigor, y una fase de campo bajo un diseño de bloques completos al azar, donde se midieron variables de crecimiento y producción de biomasa. En laboratorio, la imbibición de 8 y 16 horas incrementó significativamente el porcentaje de germinación y la altura de plántula en ambas especies (p < 0,05), en comparación con el control y con tiempos de imbibición más prolongados. En campo, este mismo tratamiento produjo plantas con mayor altura, mayor desarrollo foliar y radicular, y una mayor acumulación de biomasa (g/m²), reflejando una mejor uniformidad del rodal y un uso más eficiente de los recursos edáficos. Se concluye que la imbibición controlada constituye una estrategia pregerminativa efectiva para mejorar el establecimiento y la productividad de Beta vulgaris y Trifolium pratense, contribuyendo a la sostenibilidad de los sistemas forrajeros del trópico alto.
